Welcome to the 2011 Edition of the Junior Golf Program

The Junior Golf Program will begin on Tuesday, July 5th with the Registration, Pre-swing & Full Swing program. Please check the “Schedule of Events” for all dates and schedules.

During the first week of the program (Tuesday through Friday, July 5- 8), the Junior Golfers will receive Clinic Style instruction from our Golf Professional, Mark Jorgensen and his staff. For the past few years this has been a very successful and popular program. The clinic is designed to give the participants proper technique training in order to prepare for the skills competition at the end of the week. The clinic includes education in other aspects of the game, including golf course etiquette. [Please remember, these are “Clinic Style” group instruction sessions and not private lessons.] Refreshments will be provided during each session.

• Group 1 13-18 years 8 a.m. - 9 a.m.
• Group 2 10-12 years 9 a.m.- 10 a.m.
• Group 3 6-9 years 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The Junior Golf Program will continue thereafter on 5 consecutive Fridays, from July 15th through August 12th. This part of the program will place emphasis upon on-course playing skills. The golf course will be "Junior-friendly", with Special Tee Markers for the younger players. In order to give the junior golfers sufficient on-course playing time, we ask parents to volunteer as monitors for the groups of junior golfers as they go out onto the course. Parents: Please try to volunteer to supervise at least 2 sessions.

REGISTRATION FEE: $ 80.00 Per Child **

The program is open to sons and daughters of Resident and Associate Members. Children of House Members and grandchildren of Resident Members are eligible, but in the event of full registration , preference will be given to the Resident and Associate families first.

* * Please note: The charge for grandchildren of members and children of other than Resident & Associate Members is $100. 00 per child.

A Note from the 2011 Yahnundasis Junior Golf Committee

In order for this year’s program to be a success, we ask that parents volunteer for the Junior Program. We hope we can count on you to help chaperone and monitor some of the younger children on the course. For those golfing members who do not have children in the Junior Golf Program, we ask for your patience and cooperation on Friday mornings in recognizing that there will be young children out on the course and it’s possible they may inconvenience you on a hole during your round. If you should encounter a group on the course, please assist some of the parent monitors in moving the children along.

The highlight of the program is the Parent-Child Tournament slated for Saturday, July 30th. Refreshments will be provided and an Awards Barbecue will be held afterwards.

On Sunday, August 7th, a team of Jr. Golfers from Cedar Lake will travel to the Yahnundasis in the 15th Annual Trevor Roy Hart Memorial Cup.

For those children who do not own their own clubs, the Jr. Golf Program has sets stored and available in the bag room - including a left-handed set. All bags are stocked with balls and tees. We hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity and introduce your child to the wonderful game of golf.

If changes in the events or schedules change, the announcements will be made as soon as possible and posted on the Junior Golf bulletin board.

Lastly, for junior golfers having family golf privileges at the club, we have a pre-season junior golf program on Saturdays, at 4 p.m., from June 12th through July 3th.
